Kayak angler Micheal Kaal set out on a gloomy day on Boone Lake in Tennessee in search of great fishing, a goal that was not only met but exceeded as a hunting Osprey joined Kaal on the water, both man and bird landing fish.

“Through here there’s all sorts of fish,” began Kaal as he headed out on the lake on a gloomy day. “They’re just everywhere and our goal is to catch them all.”

Kaal shared that the lake is home to striped bass, hybrid striped bass, largemouth and smallmouth bass, and even brown trout.

“Oh yeah, we’re getting smacked. Fish on!” said Kaal. “All right guys. That’s a nice rod bend. I’m assuming it’s a bass but I don’t know. Golly look at the way he’s turning the whole boat.”

Kaal netted his first bass, then released it. Behind Kaal, skies began to darken as he hooked into another fish.

“Wow, okay. What in the world have we hooked guys, this feels huge?” Said Kaal. “Oh it’s big. It’s really big. It’s a striper. Yep. Yep. He absolutely smoked me.”

The wind blew against Kaal’s microphone as he held up a large striped bass to the camera.

“Well guys,” narrated Kaal, “It didn’t take long for me to realize this was going to be a very special day. There was Shad pushed up and jumping everywhere and there were all sorts of fish feeding all over the place.”

After catching and releasing the striped bass, Kaal went on to hook two more bass back to back as he was trying to untangle another rod. As Kaal attended to the bass, his second rod began to quiver.

“We’ve got two on!” said Kaal. “Oh that’s the biggest bass I’ve caught on Boone Lake period.”

Kaal reeled in the first bass, speculating that it could be a personal best, then reeled in the second bass.

“This is what we call a bucket mouth right here,” said Kaal.

The larger of the two bass came in at 21 and a half inches. Kaal went on to hook into another bass as it began to rain. Not wanting to miss out on the fun, an Osprey soon joined Kaal.

“The Osprey is trying to convince me to go out right now. He’s having the time of his life. Look at him. He’s right in front of me just hovering,” shared Kaal, before following the Osprey’s lead to fish in the rain.
