Mistakes happen while out fishing, and one of the more common is hooking your arm instead of a fish. While there are a number of methods to get the hook out yourself, the DHUKR tool is one of the quickest and most painless. Conveniently, it also makes for the most viral video.
The DHUKR tool is making waves at ICAST 2025 as anglers demonstrate there’s no way to prove your fishing prowess quite like sticking yourself with a hook on camera, then letting the guy at the DHUKR booth unstick it.
Would you put a hook in your arm for a viral video?
Kane Weekley and Carlos Longoria, or Charlie HookEm, put the DHUKR tool to the test.
“Push it in more, push it in more,” encouraged Longoria, while a small crowd gathered around the group.
Impressively, Longoria didn’t even notice when the hook was removed.

“I need to pick one of these to stick in my own arm,” explained Kayak Angler’s very own Keith Stevenson in a video. Stevenson himself appears a little unclear if he volunteered to participate in the demonstration or was peer pressured.
Stevenson picked through several varieties of lures before settling on the one that would best match his bracelets—a big jig. In the process of choosing, Stevenson garnered an audience.
“Now everybody’s watching so I really have to do this,” said Stevenson before sticking himself with the lure.

If you can’t quite see the mechanics of the DHUKR tool in the first two videos, Beyond Braid and DHUKR shared a video close-up of the tool being used on a dummy hand.
“DHUKR tool, the world’s first and only human de-hooking tool,” shared Mike Green from DHUKR.
And while you may not want to test it yourself—especially for social media cred—DHUKR is the type of tool you want on hand in a pinch.
