Pro angler and host of “Let’s Talk Fishing Podcast” Matt Arey is excited about Lunkerhunt’s new Furenzy Mouse. “Pressured bass see a lot of frog lures, so I want to give them something they haven’t seen” he explains.

First Look: Lunkerhunt’s New Furenzy Mouse

The Furenzy mouse creates a unique profile on the surface of the water with a lifelike tail and soft-to-the-touch synthetic fur. Not only does the fur look and feel realistic, but it absorbs a small amount of water to provide extra weight for longer, more accurate casts.

The hollow-body mouse pattern with weedless hooks is deadly in heavy vegetation on hot summer days. Arey works the lure in the classic walk-the-dog pattern, “the rubber tail creates a Z-wake that entices bass to bite,” he says.

The Furenzy Mouse comes in three sizes from two to three inches to match the size of the rodents at your favorite fishing hole.

“Thank God my dad wasn’t a podiatrist,” Ric jokes about following in the footsteps of a famous outdoor writer. After graduating from Radford University and serving two years in Russia with the Peace Corps, Ric returned to Virginia Beach and started writing for The Fisherman magazine, where his dad was editor. When the kayak fishing scene exploded, Ric was among the first to get onboard. His 2007 book, The Complete Kayak Fisherman is one of the first how-to books to introduce anglers to paddle fishing. In 2010, Ric took on the role of editor at Kayak Angler magazine where he covered the latest trends in kayak fishing tactics, tackle, gear and destinations. A ravenous angler, Ric fishes from the mountain to the sea chasing everything from smallmouth bass to striped bass.
