The estuaries of western North America are home to white sturgeon, the largest freshwater fish on the continent. It’s estimated sturgeon have been swimming around the planet for 200 million years.
Granted the sturgeon encountered today haven’t been around quite so long. White Sturgeon can live up to 100 years. Nevertheless, the opportunity to set the hook on one of these fish is the chance to battle with a living dinosaur. The intense tug on the line certainly feels that way.
