For many anglers, their favorite tried and true low-profile baitcaster for years has been the Shimano Curado, and that’s because it’s a true workhorse that isn’t flashy, but won’t even fail you. Their latest offering to the Curado lineup, the Curado 200 I HG features 5+1 ball bearings, has a max drag of 12lbs, but only weighs 7.4 ounces. Offered in five different models, the Curado is capable for both saltwater and freshwater applications, and will outperform many other reels.

The Shimano Curado is a true kayak fishing work horse of a bait caster.

The Curado 200 I HG is designed to let an angler set it and forget it, instead of constantly tweaking drag or brake settings. Once you’ve got this dialed, which should only take seconds, you’ll be able to trust it fully for years to come. The retrieve range of 23-30 inches per crank lets you turn up the heat on your retrieve when you need to move it, but isn’t so fast that you can’t work a lure with slow finesse.

Shimano’s famous Star Drag system and “Stable Spool Design” means that you’ll always have a smooth, even drag, without worry of breaking off. If you’ve been looking for a go-to, never fail, dependable baitcaster, you might have to keep turning to Shimano’s Curado 200 I HG, and never look back.
