A mothership fishing trip in New Zealand takes a dramatic turn when a kayak angler hooks into a mako shark.
Robert Field is leading a group of anglers with outfitter Fish Village on a dream trip off the coast of New Zealand. The catch-and-cook outing goes from hauling in snapper and kingfish to leaping apex predators in a matter of moments.
One of the anglers, Shaun Makin, was fighting a huge snapper, when he reports over the radio that another of his lines with a live bait is going off. Field hears a cannonball of a splash, as the group turns to see the mako proceeding to breach into an ongoing fully aerial display. The shark would get off the line, but not before leaving the anglers completely in awe.
