New Onyx PFDs First Look

The Onyx inflatable belt PFD is a favorite with SUP paddlers for its light, compact and smart design. This year they are adding a chest pack inflatable that will be a bigger favorite.

A small package on the front holds an inflatable air bladder while form-fitting mesh on the back keeps the PFD in place. Unlike a belt-worn inflatable, the new model doesn’t have to be donned once it inflates.

They also showed off their fishing PFD with smart features like a pocket for a handheld VHF and a fold-down flap that offers anglers a place to tie rigs and still holds a small tackle box. The best part is the value-mined price tag for PFDs packed with features.
