There never seems to be a shortage of lures worth cramming in a tacklebox. Alas, space and budgets keep us in check, and make packing the arsenal one of the most daunting decisions in a day of angling. Lunkerhunt has introduced a few provoking baits in their new BLACK line making the cut.
The first is the Stryka Worm, which is available in 4.5-inch and 6.5-inch versions. Itโs a super soft plastic that stinks like squid scent. Elite Series Angler Matt Areyโs favorite way to fish this worm is Neko rigging. But you can also fish it on drop shot or a Texas rig. According to Arey, you can also fish this thing weightless, because it has enough salt content in it to fall nicely.
The second bait is the Twytch Witch minnow. Lunkerhunt decided to go with a length that matches the average size bait fish in the Southeast, around 3.5 inches. Itโs super soft, and again, heavy salt, very scented, and you can fish it multiple ways, including a jig head or on a drop shot rig.
The last is the B.L.B. FFS Minnow. The B.L.B. is a hard bait, which Arey refers to as a hybrid bait. It looks like a spy bait without the blades on it. On the fall, it shimmies, and the idea is that anglers will get a lot of reaction bites as it does. Arey says you can fish it just like you can a spoon or a blade bait. Heโll make a long cast, let it go to the bottom, then lift it up and let it go back down. When it falls, he says, the action is absolutely amazing.
