Building on the success of their earlier Sharky spinning reel, KastKing has just announced their new Sharky II spinning reel, which has gone through “three years of development and holds 20 design patents,” said a KastKing press release. Why all that time and testing? Well now the reel is designed to withstand harsher conditions, like those found in fishing kayaks and can withstand submersion for up to three minutes.
With a drag rating of 41.5lbs, in the 6000 series reel, the Sharky II has the power to stop big fish in their tracks like a high dollar reel, but won’t empty your wallet in the process. The reel also features a waterproof carbon fiber drag system that is “stronger, 10% lighter, and casts 10% farther than its predecessor.”
The reel’s T-handle design lets you crank with more grip and control, while the reel’s lightweight design keeps you casting all day long without fatigue. “Reinforcement was added to the reel body for less torsional flex, yet it remains light weight for its size and features,” said the press release. “The Sharky II 4000, which generates 28.5 lbs/ 13 kg of drag, weighs in at 11.1 ounces/ 317 grams while the Sharky II 6000 has 41.5 lbs. / 19 kg. of drag.”
