Wilderness Systems Radar 115 Kayak Wins PADDLEexpo’s Coolest Product of the Show 2016 Award for ‘Kayak Fishing’ Category

Radar 115 selected for its tri-powered design

GREENVILLE, S.C. (October 13, 2016) —The Wilderness Systems Radar 115 kayak earned Kayak Session‘s prestigious Coolest Product of the Show 2016 award in the “kayak fishing” category at PADDLEexpo 2016.

The exceedingly versatile Radar 115 is a truly unique tri-powered kayak that can be paddled, powered by the Helix MD™ Motor Drive, or pedaled with the groundbreaking, patent-pending new Helix PD™ Pedal Drive.

“We are honored that Kayak Session awarded the Radar 115 as the Coolest Product of the Show 2016 in the kayak fishing category,” said Shane Steffen, director of product management for Wilderness Systems. “The Radar is the culmination of anything and everything a kayak angler would want or need in a fishing kayak.”

The Radar’s proprietary S.M.A.R.T. Hull Technology combines stability, maneuverability, acceleration, responsiveness and tracking for optimal performance in multiple water environments and configurations. Design elements include an upswept bow for a dry ride, a defined keel line for excellent tracking, a rockered chine for responsive steering and a flat, stable platform for standing and freedom of movement in flat to rough water. The Radar delivers stand-up stability without increasing the width of the hull, thanks to its S.M.A.R.T. Hull design. The boat also feature retractable rudder technology aiding in rudder longevity.

“The versatility of the boat (pedal, paddle, engine) as well as the high quality of the outfitting were key factors for us,” said Philippe Doux, founder and publisher of Kayak Session and a member of the five-person panel of judges comprised of boat designers and engineers, paddling legends and outdoor industry innovators.

The Radar 115 features state-of-the-art outfitting including expansive SlideTrax™ rails and a multitude of storage opportunities. Wilderness Systems’ exclusive Flex Pod system provides the versatility to deploy side-scanning or down-imaging electronics while using either of the Helix Propulsion Technologies.

Wilderness Systems’ renowned premium comfort is continued with the Radar series, which includes the award-winning patented AirPro MAX high-low seat. It can be ergonomically trimmed for paddling or pedaling positions, and can also be stowed in a vertical position to increase standing area. With its new quick adjust levers, users can slide the seat fore and aft to set leg length, essential with use of the Helix PD Pedal Drive or adjusting the trim of a fully loaded boat.

The Radar features a premium, matte glass bead finish on the deck to reduce glare and is available in six colors: Desert Camo, Dusk, Mango, Midnight, Sonar, and Solar. The Radar 115 is priced at $1,349 USD. The Radar family also includes the Radar 135 priced at $1,499. The Radar 135 launches to retailers in November. The Radar 115 launches in December.
