Caught this beast Tuesday evening while fishing a channel dropoff on the mighty James River here in Richmond Virginia. The shad are running up the river here so good bait is in high abundance. That’s what prompted this toad to suck down a piece of cut hickory shad I had resting on the bottom. As you can see in the video, she hits one of my rods as I’m reeling in my spread to turn in for the evening. After calling my friends over and fighting the pig, I got her in the yak just before dark sets in. This fish currently ties my personal best of 65lbs. It is my third cat over 50 pounds and my fourth fish over 40 pound. That’s a lot of big fish caught in my Malibu Xfactor. Nothing beats a big fish with good friends during the height of the “Super Bowl” of fishing here in the RVA! It’s truly a fish and a trip that I won’t forget anytime soon! Keep a lookout for the Peelin’ Drag Extreme Fishing boys here in Richmond. We’re doing a lot of unconventional, out of the box, and overall cool stuff in the fishing community and you should hear more from us very soon.
