When I saw it in person at the YakAttack booth, the new CommandCenter CrossBar impressed me with its versatility and durability. It’s just one of many useful new accessories on offer this year from the prolific gear brand, who aim to release new products monthly according to marketing manager John Hipsher.

CommandCenter CrossBar

Constructed out of an anodized aluminum bar on high-impact plastic feet, the CommandCenter CrossBar allows me to mount fish finder display, rod holders and other accessories at the front of my kayak cockpit. The eight-sided rail has gear tracks on each side of the bar for unlimited mounting options. The bar attaches to standard gear tracks, so it is easy to add to any kayak.

RotoGrip Phone Holder

One accessory I’ll add to my CommandCenter Crossbar is the new RotoGrip Phone Holder with ScrewBall. Using the popular RotoGrip holder that YakAttack uses with their quick-release paddle holder and stakeout pole holder, the RotoGrip Phone Holder has two wheels on a tensioned hand to secure my phone and still allow me to quickly release it.

The phone holder can be mounted on a ScrewBall base or MightyMount to offer more options for mounting the holder. For added security, the RotoGrip comes with a smartphone tether that clips to the base of the holder.

Dual Comfort Seat Cushion

After a few years, kayak seats start to lose some of their performance as the material sags and exposes straps and bars underneath. To add another layer of comfort, the Dual Comfort Seat Cushion has medium firmness foam on one side and stiffer foam on the other so I can choose my level of padding. With adjustable straps to fit any seat, the pad can be used as a seat bottom, seat back or both.

SwitchBlade Live

We’ve been waiting for YakAttack’s SwitchBlade Live to make forward-facing sonar easier to use in a kayak. The system is connected to the kayak with gear tracks and the pole holds the transducer below the water. When I’m moving to the next fishing hole, I fold up the transducer pole and it secures in the holder clips. A bright orange arrow at the top of the pole makes it easy to monitor the direction of my transducer. Out of the box, the SwitchBlade will work with transducers from Garmin and Lowrance.
