I never thought I needed sunglasses retainers until I bought my first pair of really good polarized shades. After blowing my paycheck on quality glass, I wasn’t going to give them up to Poseidon easily. I need something I could trust. CHUMS has been known for high quality retainers for years. They’ve recently announced their newest additions to their line of sunglass retainers, the new Ratchet (available now) and Flyvines (available in March).
The Ratchet, $11.99, pictured above and directly below, allow anglers are a mechanical sunglass retainer that has been built to withstand season after season of abuse. The system allows anglers to have a “halo effect” or rigid retainer that encircles the head and also allows for remarkable adjustability. With four different retainer positions and a range of motion of 180-degrees, anglers will be able to dial in the retainer for more comfort and security for those long days on the water.
The lightweight solution, the Flyvines, $9.99, is what I’m really excited about. My favorite retainers are the ones that I barely feel, until I need them to save my shades from the drink. The Flyvines retainer is made in partnership with Missoula-based company, Flyvines, creators of reatainers and fly fishing accessories made from recycled fly line–a product that looks unique and is even eco-friendly. Made in the USA, the Flyvines retainers are hand-braided one-by-one.
“Flyvine’s dedication to style and creating environmentally friendly products is a great fit for our brand.” said Mike Neary, Vice President of Sales at CHUMS, in a press release. “We’re thrilled to highlight these hand braided and one-of-a-kind retainers.” I can’t wait to rock these recycled retainers on the water to show off my fly fishing pride, and my love for clean waters at the same time.
