I’m a huge fan of Simms Fishing gear and that’s because it’s what every guide friend of mine swears by. When you’re on the water day in and day out, you need something that will stand up to the abuse and still keep you warm and dry (or cool and dry, depending on the day). The new Kinetic Jacket, $249.95, is an insulated jacket with PrimaLoft Gold insulation, which after testing other Primaloft products, I know will be so warm and toasty you can call fishing in the rain luxuriously comfortable. Even with all that warmth, PrimaLoft Gold insulation also lets you pack it smaller than traditional insulation, so stowing it away in a dry hatch or dry bag is never a problem.

The perfect blend of stretchy warmth and dry insulation will keep you on the water longer.

The Kinetic Jacket won’t only keep you warm, it’ll also keep you from cooking inside your jacket, as the Polartec Wind Pro® stretch-fleece added to the underarm and body panels ensures optimal breathability and lets you move as freely as if you weren’t wearing anything.

For the anglers that can never have too much gear, brushed tricot-lined handwarmer and zippered chest pockets are low-profile so you won’t constantly snag your line. The insulated hood will let you close out the weather when it turns for the worse and is designed to perfectly fit underneath your Simms shell to stay dry in even torrential down pours.

Judging by the fact that I’ve been wearing my Simms Guide Jacket forever (probably eight years) and it still looks brand new, the new Kinetic Jacket will keep you warm and comfy for many years to come. Seeing as my Guide Jacket, which I’ve brought on nearly every trip that I’ve ever taken, doesn’t have much in the way of insulation, I might be picking up one of these Kinetic jackets to slip underneath and form the perfect fortress of comfort while I’m on the water. Then I’d never have to stop fishing.
