I’ve been a fan of the original Native Watercraft Ultimate since it first came out. Now that super stable platform just got redesigned into a kayak even more suited for anglers who stand and fish. The Ultimate FX 12, FX 15 solo and FX 15 tandem feature Native’s removeable First Class High-Low Seats and new extra-wide footwells, which are still below the water line to provide the lowest center of gravity possible. I’m very happy to hear this, as the only shortcoming I had with the first boat is that when barefoot, the footwells were uncomfortable after standing for prolonged periods. Now the footwells and floor features a non-slip padding, so there’s no excuse for sitting down all day and missing a fish.

Molded-in rod stays, two anchor trolleys and a groove track mount running down the sides of the hull to give anglers multiple options for fishing and rigging. Instead of the toggles like on the original Ultimate, there are now bow and stern padded solid aluminum grab handles for easy transport to and from the water. The large bow and stern hatches feature bungees to secure gear and hard hatch covers are also available (sold seperatley).

The molded in thwart behind the seat, a fan request, has been added to give anglers an even higher vantage point. The easy foot rests and on the fly seat adjustment remains a staple in the Ultimate FX and Ultimate line-ups. The Ultimate FX 15 can easily transition from solo or tandem riggings by sliding Native’s High-Low seat forward or back or removing one.
