An international field of 49 anglers took to the water at Leeville, Louisiana for the first time at the Hobie Fishing Worlds 6 presented by Rhino-RackĀ® for Lowrance Navigation and Pre-Fish Day. Lead by local guides, groups of five anglers scattered across the tournament zone, on the hunt for the fish that will make one of them a world champion in just a few days. Team USAā€™s Matthew Scotch led with 56 total inches of fish after day one of three. Scotch, who qualified via the Hobie Bass Open, tallied a 38-inch redfish and an 18-inch sea trout in wind-marred conditions. In the end it was 2014 Hobie Fishing World Champion Steve Lessard who made a strong bid to become the first repeat champion. He finished with a total of 126 inches, 16 more than second place.
