You may not know Pure Fishing, but you probably have some of their products in your tackle box. From PENN to Shakespeare to Power Bait and Gulp, this tackle manufacture is the bread and butter of American fishing. All of their titles are releasing exciting new tackle but these items caught our attention.
Great New Pure Fishing Tackle You Gotta Get
Power Bait with Gulp Scent
Lovers of Power Baits and Gulp will be happy to hear that Power Bait, which was always a taste-based attractant, has now added scent to its formula. The new Power Bait looks and feels like any soft plastic but adds scent and taste. Unlike Gulp, the new stuff does not dry out. They will be available in eight popular styles.
Updated Abu Garcia Revo 4
Abu Garcia has updated its popular Revo 4 to produce more drag (24 pounds) with a Power Stack drag system that features a larger surface area for more even pressure. They added oversized reel handles to handle that stopping power. In addition to better brakes, they also improved the gas pedal. The new Revo 4 has a centrifugal brake that can be completely locked out for total control of the cast.
Shakespeare Catch More Fish
Shakespeare is continuing their commitment to kids with a line of combos called Catch More Fish. The package includes rod, reel, line and a species-specific tackle box for bass, bluegill and other popular pond and creek dwellers. The top section and butt section of the rod are connected with an internal bungee, like a tent pole, that keeps the two sections together. There’s even an instruction book that includes everything a young (or old) angler needs to know to hit the water.
New PENN Reels
I was most excited about the built-tough PENN reels coming out this year. Continuing their commitment to bullet proof saltwater arsenal, the new Torque Slammer comes with a high-speed retrieve that pulls in 48 to 50 inches of line per crank. The reel comes with a larger spool for more torque and separate reel handles for jigging or casting lures. For lady anglers, they’ve released Passion Battle series with nylon rotor, soft reel grips and a lower gear ratio.
Their masterpiece is the new Conflict II. Light, powerful and reliable, the new Conflict II has no metal in the body. Instead a composite carbon frame and rotor is corrosion resistant and incredibly stiff. The guts are tough CNC gears and a HT 100 drag system for stopping power. If you make hundreds of casts to catch one fish, this is one reel for you.
