Using a first-generation Hobie MirageDrive design, they improved on the components and construction for a more side drive that is lighter and faster.
At the 2019 ICAST tradeshow, Pelican International took center stage with a new 10-foot-long hybrid skiff that can be paddled or motored: the Catch PWR 100.
The small boat is 38 inches wide for solid stability. At only 10 feet long, the Catch PWR is easy to turn, making it a capable paddle kayak for any angler.
The PWR stands for power. The Catch PWR can accommodate a trolling motor with 55 foot-pounds of thrust. The motor fits on a bracket in the transom powered by a 12-volt marine battery in the bow.
The motor and battery are connected with cables that run under the deck. The boat has a high-level, swivel seat that can be moved fore and aft to improve ballast.
