Native’s Ultimate FX 13 is changing the game, again.

Native Watersports has been putting anglers into innovative kayaks since the dawn of the sport’s modern age. From the revolutionary Ultimate canoe-style kayak to the evolutionary Propel power system, the company has made kayak fishing easier and more comfortable for it’s fans.

The new FX 13 takes convenience to a new level. Native installed the proven Propel pedal drive system that is fast and efficient and also offers reverse. Now anglers can choose an electric trolling motor option to go faster and further. The 13 FX is 13 feet long, the perfect compromise size for speed and performance.

They’ve added a battery box in the bow to make installing electronics easier and safer. Native introduced the first comfy frame seat and the Ultimate 13 FX has taken the concept to the next level. The new boat features a seat that can be moved foreward and aft to balance the boat. It also has space for storage on a metal frame.

In the stern, they’ve added a movable storage system. The sliding station includes vertical rod holders, gear tracks and a storage box that can be plumbed as a livewell. The Ultimate’s open cockpit allows for almost unlimited storage and customization.

Native has also release a line of accessories including a cool seat pack that will fit other makes and models of seat. The pack holds two tackle trays and even has space for more gear. Looks like Native is still setting the bar for kayak anglers and kayak manufactures.

“Thank God my dad wasn’t a podiatrist,” Ric jokes about following in the footsteps of a famous outdoor writer. After graduating from Radford University and serving two years in Russia with the Peace Corps, Ric returned to Virginia Beach and started writing for The Fisherman magazine, where his dad was editor. When the kayak fishing scene exploded, Ric was among the first to get onboard. His 2007 book, The Complete Kayak Fisherman is one of the first how-to books to introduce anglers to paddle fishing. In 2010, Ric took on the role of editor at Kayak Angler magazine where he covered the latest trends in kayak fishing tactics, tackle, gear and destinations. A ravenous angler, Ric fishes from the mountain to the sea chasing everything from smallmouth bass to striped bass.
